One Foot in the Grave

One Foot in the Grave by Denise Grover Swank

This is the third book in the Carly Moore series.

The book may have been rushed to printing as There were a few spots in the book that you could see the editing.

The series follows “Carly Moore” who was on the run from her father when she broke down in Drum, Tennessee.

Book 3 follows Carly and her friend, Marco, who is a sheriff’s deputy who try to clear the name of her ex-Boyfriend.  Carly and Wyatt dated after she decided to stay in Drum. The relationship ended because Wyatt held secrets he had promised to tell.

The murder he is wanted for is one of the secrets he wouldn’t tell her.  By digging into the murder, Carly yet again put her and Marco’s life on the line.

I couldn’t put the book down and read it in 24 hours.  The series doesn’t have to be read in order but if read out of order, there will be pieces missing.

I can’t wait for book 4.  I enjoy each main storyline with each book but it’s the background story about the people that have me really invested in the series.

Any Luck at All

Any Luck at All by A.R. Caseload and Denise Grover Swank

The first book in the Asheville Brewery follows Georgie and River.

They met at the will reading for Georgie’s grandfather who owned the Buchanan Brewery.  To everyone’s surprise, the brewery was left to the four grandkids and not Prescott (their father).

Georgie is the only one at first that had an interest in taking on a failed brewery and make it profitable.  River is her only hope to make that happen.

The story is about Georgie and River navigating their feelings for each other and a have a professional off limits relationship.  Plus Georgie hold on to a secret that her grandfather originally planned to leave it all to River.

The book is a rom-com.  It’s not my favorite my Denise Grover Swank but I do plan to purchase and read the other books in the series.

Shards of sky

Shard of Sky by E.C. Colton

The story at times was hard to follow but was still good.

The story follows Jenn who feels responsible for her younger brother.  The mother died and they were taken from their father after his numerous arrests.  They live with their Aunt Vera who makes them sleep on the porch.  Jenn sets out to find their father only to find him and not recognize the man he has become.  In the end, they end up with a sister they didn’t know existed.

The story is about feeling lost and unloved and setting out to find love.  It may come from somewhere unexpected but it’s there somewhere.  The message makes the novella worth the read.

Sprinkle with Murder

Sprinkle with Murder by Jenn McKinlay

The first book in the A Cupcake Bakery Mystery.

Mel just opened her bakery shop with the financial backing of her childhood best friend Tate.  The third friend in the trio Angie works at the bakery with Mel.

When Tate’s fiancé Christie is found dead by Mel with one of her cupcakes, she becomes the prime suspect.

The story follows Mel trying to prove her innocence.  Her business starts to suffer from the rumors being spread so she set out on her own to find the true killer.

The romance in the story is kept as a little background plot but fits perfectly with the main story line.  I’m normally good at picking up on who the killer is however this one took me a while to figure it out.

I will definitely pick up and read book two.

Weddings Coordinated

 Weddings Coordinated by Lisa Gayle

I received an early release computer of the book in a PDF format exchange for an honest review.

I couldn’t put it down.  I read the book in 24 hours.

The story is sort of a Parent Trap story line.  Dani and Mel are twins that switch places so Mel and go to the wedding of her best friend.

The story line with Ethan and Dani honestly draws you in.  I couldn’t wait to see what would happen between them next.  Ethan is Mel’s boss and he can’t understand why all of a sudden he is attracted to Mel.  He doesn’t know it’s Dani not Mel.

Mal and Jesse (Mel’s best friend) are your typical friends to lovers but done in a way that keeps you on your toes.  You know it’s coming but not sure how the truth will come out.

There were numerous parts where I laughed and it pulled me in more.  I will definitely buy a hard copy once it’s available.

Wish Hunter

Wish Hunter by Hero Bowen and Jordan Riley Swan

The story started out at a slow read where you are introduced to Nadia “Clover Eyes” and Miles. I had to force myself to keep reading the beginning because it’s such a slow read.  Once I got to chapters 6 and 7, I couldn’t put the book down.

The story line is so well written and just draws you it.  Nadia comes from a family that steals wish from people who don’t even know they exist until Miles.  Miles knows about wishes and even bought his wish.  Nadia steals his wish and sets up a story of them coming together to try and get it back because it was then stolen from her.

If you like stories the deal with family drama, you will get plenty of that in the story.

I can’t wait for book 2 in the series to come up.

The Inheritance Games

The Inheritance Games features a wealthy family and a nobody high school student.  Avery (a high schooler) was listed in the will of Tobias Hawthorne as his heir apparent when she has never even heard of him.  He leaves a series of clue around his house and grounds.  His four grandsons and Avery must work together to figure out what he is trying to tell them.

The book and story line is so well written that I couldn’t put it down.  Every free minute I had I was reading trying to see what happened next.  The ending was unexpected and leaves me waiting on the next book.

I can’t wait until September 2021 when The Hawthorne Legacy Book 2 is released.
